On Monday 4th, Nubank launched its first investment product aimed at companies. In Caixinhas, the name given to the feature, the money is invested in RDB (Rendimento de Depósito Bancário), a fixed-income security with a daily yield of 100 per cent of the CDI.
The development of the product - which is already available in individual accounts - for the PJ account, followed a study carried out at Nubank with around 3,000 owners and decision-makers among Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEI), small and medium-sized companies. In the universe of MEIs and Micro-enterprises (ME), just over half have the habit of saving money, while in medium-sized companies, around 74 per cent invest for the future.
According to the study, 41 per cent of owners tend to look for simple, easy-to-understand financial solutions. In addition, 38 per cent revealed that their main needs include products with high liquidity and low risk, although the appetite for risk and the ability to keep money invested for longer are beginning to increase in medium-sized companies, mainly due to the possibility of higher returns.
"With Caixinhas integrated into Nubank's PJ Account, we are taking another step towards helping Brazilian entrepreneurs to have even more control over their money, with the simplicity and efficiency of Nu. The habit of saving money is still not adopted by a large proportion of small and medium-sized businesses and, with this new feature, we are offering our business customers a way to plan to achieve medium and long-term goals," says Livia Chanes, Nubank's operations leader in Brazil.
Customers can deposit as little as 1 real in different Boxes, which can be personalised according to objectives and goals, such as paying taxes, unforeseen events, buying equipment or any other entrepreneurial need. There is a simulator that allows you to evaluate the amount you need to reach a financial goal, as well as being able to follow the progress of the amount invested via a progress bar.
Compared to Caixinha Individual, the PJ product has some differences. The income report will be made available on a quarterly basis and the money can be redeemed at any time, but it starts to yield after 30 days deposited in the Caixinha.
As it is an RDB, tax is levied on the income. In the case of income tax, the rate is 22.5 per cent for amounts deposited for less than 180 days, 20 per cent between 181 and 360 days; 17.5 per cent for amounts invested between 361 and 720 days and 15 per cent for investments of up to 720 days.
