The Central Bank has granted operating authorization for the 55 Sociedade de Crédito Direto (SCD). The headquarters is in São Paulo, and the initial capital is R$ 1.105 million. The controllers are a55 Consultoria, André Wetter and Hugo Alain Charles Mathecowitsch.
In January, a55 received a US$17 million injection led by Movile, an investor that has iFood among its main investments. Mouro Capital, a venture capital fund from Grupo Santander and which was already an investor in a55, also participated in the round.
Created in 2018 by Wetter and Mathecowitsch, a55 operates in Brazil, where almost 75% of its revenue comes from, and in Mexico, where it arrived in 2020, through a platform that connects banking, payment, and online performance data. It acts as a banking correspondent for QI Tech and BMP Money Plus, but had advanced to Valor that it intended to create a SCD.
