The fintech was founded in 2019 by Monica Sacarelli - the entrepreneur was interviewed by the portal in November 2020, in the special Women Entrepreneurs.
The Grain was born to teach people to invest, even if "from grain to grain": it is possible to invest from R$ 1 in government bonds, with no administration fee. The company aims to help Brazilians create the habit of saving, encouraging the formation of a financial "reserve" to reduce debt and be the initial step in investments.
The Grain user has access to a financial organizer, which helps to understand where expenses are allocated (in categories), bringing the result of how much can be saved in the month. It also provides tips on financial behavior and the best use of money.
The company has 35 thousand active clients and a team of approximately 20 people, most of them in technology. The Group's intention in this acquisition is in the knowledge and capacity of the fintech to create and offer financial products, while Grão will have access to an audience interested in investments and familiar with digital.
The fintech will broaden its focus of activity, also seeking larger clients, as well as expanding its range of services. In addition to the digital account, interest-bearing account, and card, it will offer pension funds and other more diversified investments. For this, an asset management company has been formed, which will develop such products internally.
"Monica and her team have a purpose very much aligned with ours. The opportunity to have this team building services that are in our plans to serve and strengthen our community was important for this choice" says Nigro, financial specialist and CEO of Grupo Primo.
This move reinforces the strategy of serving the Group's audience in their needs throughout the entire investment knowledge journey. This makes official its entry into the financial products segment.
"When we started Graão, our proposal was to give Brazilians the possibility to start saving money from R$ 1. The acquisition makes sense for us to evolve from a digital savings to an investment platform without losing our essence and independence, a key point of this choice. In addition, the Group's values are also very aligned with ours: to provide access to investments and financial education," says Mônica Saccarelli, founder of the Graão.
Mônica has worked in the financial market since 1998. She was a former partner and cofounder of the brokerage Rico, where she was one of those responsible for the creation and the business plan. Under the agreement, she will continue to lead the fintech operation, becoming a partner and being in charge of financial products for the entire Group.
"The presence of Grão in our ecosystem makes official Grupo Primo's entry into a new stage: In addition to providing access to information, we will offer financial products. This increases the life cycle of our customers with us, guarantees a complete experience with the Group and integrates a partner with a competent team. All this supported by proprietary technologies that ensure security and scale to the next steps in this market" reinforces Nigro.
