EqSeed, an online investment platform for startups, finalised a BRL 7.5 million investment through its own platform, the amount secured as a national record as the largest Brazilian equity crowdfunding investment.
The round was held entirely online on EqSeed's own platform, achieving success in just one month, and with more than 350 investors. The success of the round comes a few months after the fintech closed an exclusive partnership with Itaú Unibanco.
"The completion of an investment round of this size in this timeframe is a strong signalling of the return of investor appetite for risk assets. We believe the recent interest rate drop will further drive demand for alternative investments, and the investors who entered the round share this view," says Greg Kelly, CEO of EqSeed.
EqSeed makes it easier for early-stage startups to find investment
Equity crowdfunding platforms allow people to invest directly in startups through public offerings of securities regulated by the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM). According to data from the regulator, this sector grew 61% in 2022.
Through EqSeed, more than BRL 79 million have already been invested in 58 rounds held online through the platform, and already with 6 exits from its portfolio, generating significant returns for investors.
