Bitybank will launch a debit card in partnership with Mastercard to allow its customers to pay for products with the balance they have in their account, whether in Brazilian real or cryptoassets. Customers who have a certain amount of bitcoin (BTC) in their wallets, for example, will have the value of that drink deducted from the equivalent in bitcoin when they pay for a coffee. In practice, it's as if the user's cryptocurrency holdings functioned as the card's limit.
In a statement, Bitybank emphasises that the card will have no monthly or annual fees and that users will have the option of receiving cashback for transactions made. The customer himself will have the option of receiving this money back in reais or some cryptocurrency. Even those who don't choose to pay for their purchases with cryptocurrencies will be able to receive them as cashback, which is a way of encouraging people to enter this market.
"The card will allow new people to enter the cryptocurrency market with cashback, making it possible to accumulate bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies even when using Brazilian real as a form of payment," says Ney Pimenta, founder and CEO of Bitypreço.
Bitybank is the institution that resulted from Bitypreço's purchase of the broker Biscoint.
