First, what is NuTap?

With NuTap, your customers will be able to make credit and debit payments in an innovative way: Directly from their cell phones, without the need for a physical payment machine.

It works like this: The customer simply places his credit or debit card close to the back of his cell phone and the payment is made by proximity (also called contactless) - which is done with total security: The card data and password are protected by encryption and are not shared with retailers.

If the customer has a digital wallet, either on his cell phone or on a smart watch, for example, he can also just approach his device to your NuTap and pay without complications. This is only possible thanks to a wireless communication technology called NFC (more on this below).

We cannot remind you enough that our services are free of charge. With NuTap, you pay no monthly or membership fees, and there is no need to wait for a machine to arrive at your home to start using it.

When you apply, right in the app of your PJ account, you will be directed to a brief analysis of your account. If everything is ok, just follow the installation step by step and continue on the Nubank app to start using and enjoying the advantages of the digital camera.


What is this NFC technology?

NFC stands for Near Field Communication. It is thanks to this functionality that you can make a payment through a wireless connection, as is the case with NuTap.

This technology has made it easier to pay by proximity with cards and digital wallets, such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay. In addition to payments, it is also possible to use this tool to share files and photos, for example.  

But it is worth pointing out that, in the case of NuTap, both your cell phone and your customer's card, cell phone, or watch must have this technology for the payment to take place (see more details below).


How does NuTap work?

It is quite simple: To charge a customer you will use your own cell phone, and all payments with your NuTap will be made by proximity. To perform the transaction, simply hold a contactless card close to the back of your mobile phone and wait a few seconds until you receive confirmation.

The same process also applies to payments made with digital wallets. If your customer uses Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay on his cell phone or smart watch, he only needs to bring the device close to the back of his cell phone at the time of payment.

For the time being NuTap only accepts Mastercard and Visa cards. But rest assured, we will soon be expanding it to accept more cards.

How to order and install NuTap on my cell phone?

You can order your NuTap directly from the app in your PJ account. On the home screen, click on the "Get NuTap" button. If it is not yet available to you, just wait a little longer: Soon our entire private customer base will be able to order and use it. After clicking on "Get to know NuTap", follow the step-by-step installation process:

   

  1. First, you will be directed to a screen that describes the benefits of this machine, all in the Nubank way you already know: in a simple transparent way and without fine print. Read the information carefully and then click on "Get Started";
  2. Then, your cell phone will go through a quick analysis to find out if its system is compatible with our machine and if you meet all the necessary criteria to have NuTap;
  3. After confirming that everything is correct, it is time to set up your NuTap. On this new screen you are invited to download an additional app that will help you process your charges. Don't worry: it is very light and quick to install;
  4. Once installed, just return to your app's home screen and the "Charge with NuTap" button will already be available. Then you can start using it.

Easy, right? An important reminder: the additional application will not be used and also does not require any additional configuration. It is only necessary that it be installed on your cell phone to ensure that NuTap works properly.


How to charge with NuTap?

Right after installation, the "Charge with NuTap" button will be available on the home screen of your Nubank PJ account. To make your first charge, follow the instructions:

  1. Click on the "Charge with NuTap" button and choose the payment amount. For now, only charges above $2 and below $199.99 will be allowed;
  2. Choose the payment method - it can be debit, credit at sight, or in installments, as long as the minimum value of each installment is R$5;
  3. After this choice, you will be directed to the payment screen. At this point, just ask the customer to bring the card close to the back of his or her cell phone. If your customer has a digital wallet on their smartphone or smartwatch, they can also use it at payment time by positioning the device in the same way;
  4. That's it! Your first charge will have been successfully processed. You can also send a proof of payment to your customer's cell phone at the end of the operation.

How do I track my sales on NuTap?

In your PJ account application will be all the information you need about your collections. They are located in the "My Sales" section, and will always appear listed in this area. The transactions made with NuTap will be broken down. This is where you can see details such as the billing date, the amount you charged the customer, the interest rate applied, and the amount you will receive as a discount. You can also track the total amount invoiced during the month.

All sales made with your NuTap will be credited within one business day directly to your personal account.


Does NuTap have fees?

No. To purchase NuTap, you do not have to pay any acquisition, monthly, or rental fees.

The fees charged for sales are up to 30% lower in comparison with other vending machine models on the market. For debit sales, the fee is 1.49%, and for credit sales, the fee is 3.19%. For purchases in installments, the fee varies according to the number of installments, but the maximum fee for purchases in up to 12 installments is 12.49%.


Is NuTap secure?

Very! Just like other online payment machines on the market, NuTap has gone through a series of tests to ensure that your data and your customers' data will always be protected. You can trust and use it.

NuTap has the Nubank seal of trust. All card data and transactions are encrypted. This way, no one has access to sensitive information about you or your customers.


Who can have NuTap?

For now, only single member Nubank PJ account customers with Android phones can have NuTap. It is also necessary that your phone has NFC technology enabled on it.

To find out if your phone has this technology, it is quite simple: just open the phone's settings screen, select the "Connections" option and look for NFC or NFC and contactless payments. Then just leave this option activated.

We will also analyze your account and your cell phone to see if they meet the necessary criteria. If everything is okay and your cell phone is eligible to have NuTap, just log into the Nubank PJ app and apply, as explained above.

If the NuTap order button is not available for you or your cell phone is not accepted, don't be sad: little by little a larger customer base will be released. We are working to expand this feature even further and bring even more companies into our purple world.


My request for a NuTap was not accepted. Now what?

Because NuTap is a new product, it is still being released in phases. This means that access to this functionality will be gradual. If you have placed an order and it has not been accepted, please wait: We are working to improve our eligibility criteria and broaden the customer base that will be able to access NuTap benefits.
