JPMorgan has increased its stake in C6Bank from 40 per cent to 45 per cent, according to a note sent to journalists. The purchase price was not disclosed.
The marriage between JPMorgan and C6Bank began in 2021. Since then, the digital bank's number of clients has grown from 8 million to 25 million and its total credit portfolio has advanced from R$9.5 billion to R$40 billion.
C6 Bank has also expanded its shelf by offering new products, such as vehicle financing, and launched the Carbon Partner service model to provide personalised service to high-income customers, the note highlights.
"Our strategic investment in C6 Bank is an important part of JPMorgan Chase's global digital banking strategy," said Sanoke Viswanathan, head of strategy and growth at JPMorgan Chase and chief executive of international retail banking.
"The rapid growth in clients, products and balance sheet demonstrates the success of C6 Bank's approach. We are happy to reinforce our commitment to this partnership."
C6's CEO, Marcelo Kalim, said that after two years of collaboration, "we took the joint decision to extend this relationship".
"The two banks have already been working together to develop new products. We will increasingly work together to bring benefits to our customers," he added.
