Fintechs form the majority of companies selected by the Emerging Giants Program in Brazil, organized by KPMG. According to the organization, the segment represents 27.6% of startups, which were mapped in a partnership with the District. The program is designed to support startup entrepreneurs on journeys of growth. Fifty Brazilian startups, out of a total of 105 that appeared in the mapping, have already been invited to the first group of the program. The rest of the companies will be called up over the next few months, in new groups. The list of the first ones selected is at the end of the text.
The selected companies will have access to mentoring with KPMG professionals, content trail, connection with other startups to foster business, participation in exclusive events and provision of customized services on demand.
Diogo Garcia, managing partner and leader of KPMG's Emerging Giants Program in Brazil, said in a statement that companies that reach this level are more than good investment opportunities. “These are companies with the purpose of solving real problems, and success does not depend only on capital,” he said.
In addition to fintechs, adtechs (12.4%), retailtechs (10.5%), healthtechs (5.7%), edtechs (5.7%) and hrtechs (4.8%) appear among those mapped in order of volume ). Also according to the mapping, the Southeast region of Brazil concentrates 78.1% of Emerging Giants, followed by the South (18.1%), Northeast (1.9%) and Midwest (1.9%) regions. Together, the 105 chosen employ more than 15 thousand people. And, on average, each startup received 2.4 investments throughout its trajectory. The new group, with 30 companies, must be called by March 2022.
